Background
The end of 2019 saw LNER – the main operator of the UK’s flagship mainline, the East Coast Main Line – withdraw from service a design icon, the InterCity 125 High-Speed Train. After four decades of front-line services, and various internal and external colour schemes, following the introduction of the Azuma fleet, LNER withdrew its fleet of InterCity 125 High-Speed Trains from service.
Following the final public HST service on 15 December 2019, a four-day tour across the core East Coast Main Line ran between Wednesday 18 and Saturday 21 December, with an HST unit fully repainted into the original build livery. LNER’s own highly talented in-house studio team created a waft of literature, promotional items and memorable to accompany the tour.
Pressed for time
Not wanting to be left out on the look and feel, the Press Team asked me to create an A5 landscape information handout flyer/booklet for the occasion.
From the outset, it had to compliment the in-house studio designed Farewell Tour materials. As a result, to create the template, some of the in-house studio assets were supplied to create the required outcome together with what was required editorial wise by the Press Team
Overall a smart Media Information pack containing the itinerary, with a map, and a brief HST story included, all nicely tied into the design style of the main tour items.
All produced, barring a few technical glitches, in a day and a half before the tour itself – talk about ‘Pressed for time’!
