Northern (opens in a new window) is a rail operator in the North of England serving the major cities of Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle. They play a vital role in the north of England by connecting tens of thousands of people to work, leisure, education and more every day.

Northern is owned by DfT OLR Holdings Limited (DOHL), which took on the operation of Northern rail services on 1 March 2020, following the termination of Arriva group’s (opens in a new window), franchise agreement.
